Drawer pull is drilled through and crooked. The top is a little cockeyed and this becomes nicely evident when viewed next to the good half.

Pieces were cut roughly, gaps were left open, and most of the assembly was done with CA super-glue and accelerant.

As hoped, the parallel grain of the plugs has caused the glue joints to fail with expansion and contraction

The first mistake was using through dovetails on the drawer face. Then I used a band saw to hack out this poor excuse for a joint.

I attached the drawer bottom to walnut cleats with glue and brads ignoring the need for free movement. Also, this picture gives you an idea of the general sloppiness of the glue joints and surfaces of the bad side

Walnut legs are oriented so the straighter grain is facing inward. The resulting wavy grain on the front and side face work against the design of the long tapered legs. Runners, kickers and ledgers are attached with drywall screws (no pre-drilling). This caused the pieces to split a little, altering their dimension. There are several misaligned dowel joints that were fixed with a belt sander (this is quite evident in person. The back and side rails are attached with metal corner brackets. There are plenty of saw-burns, drill-thrus, tear-outs, and router-gouges to keep your eyes bouncing around for a while. Finally, most of the inside pieces are structurally too small for a table of this scale (48x30x36).

Walnut plugs cover the screw holes, The grain is running parallel to the breadboard grain, so that when they expand and contract, the glue joints fail. Because of my time limit, I simulating some seasonal climate change with a garden hose and a hair-dryer.

Badside Bread Board

Basswood breadboard on ash top. Breadboard is glued and screwed allowing for no seasonal movement. Boards are laid out asymmetrically, and have poorly matched grain.
